Tom served as an infantryman with Company K of the 3rd Marine Division at Guadalcanal, New Guinea and Peleliu Island where they were engaged in ground combat against Japanese troops until 1944 when peace was declared after Japan surrendered.

Tom was an important member of our community who loved his family, friends, and State College. Tom died tragically when he was struck by lightning while walking home from work one day in July 2003.
